Being Found

Today we are hoping we will be found. We have moved from our home for the last ten years to a new home that was not quite ready to receive us, and we are eager to serve.
Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." - Romans 10:20
In today's reading Paul quotes Isaiah and he does so to let people know that the Messiah came for all, especially for those who were not look ing for him.
I don't think the message applies only to finding faith in God. I believe we are all given the challenge to be found by those who are not seeking us and what we have to offer them.
At Caritas, we feed the hungry and offer them hope. For years, we have done this where we were planted, and all who have come have not had to look for us.
But today is different. We are in a new location, and the place we left has opened its doors to provide a similar service.
We did not plan to move. It was not our choice. But in all that has transpired that led to this, I believe we can hear God's voice. There is a reason we are where we are.
Finding a new space was not easy. Nothing was available and some were afraid we would have to close. But I believe God had a plan. He knew the model we created at our old home could be copied and those we served could continue to be served by others.
He wanted us to find those who were not seeking us.
So, at the eleventh hour, space opened up and we were shown the promised land.
Our job now is to continue to become more of what we were, a source of hope and help.
Today is the first test. We open our doors at 8. Will they come?
I am sure they will. Some will come today. Some will come next week. Others will follow, and soon we will see the plan clearly. Until all the sheep are fed, there will be need for more movement, more growing, more seed-planting and more branches sprouting from the trunk.
We just have to trust in Him.
More to come...
