Being You

Is it wrong to cast out demons on the Sabbath?
He went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbath. They were astounded at his teaching, because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, "Let us alone! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" When the demon had thrown him down before them, he came out of him without having done him any harm. They were all amazed and kept saying to one another, "What kind of utterance is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come!" And a report about him began to reach every place in the region. - Luke 4:31-37
Did you notice that Jesus was not criticized for casting out demons on the Sabbath?
Perhaps it is because he did it at a synagogue in Capernaum rather than at the Temple in Jerusalem.
The Pharisees and scribes were not there.
He was the authority. He had the power. No one else claimed to have greater authority and power.
It is a great feeling when we find ourselves in charge of our lives. No one can tell us what to do and when to do it.
We decide for ourselves.
Jesus showed us that we are the power and authority in our lives. We decide how to live.
This is what God intended for us. Not to be slaves to anyone but to be free from all bondage.
We are so conditioned to be under someone else's authority that we feel lost when that authority is gone.
When we lose our job, for example, we don't see that as a time when we are free to make choices. Instead, we feel ashamed and cannot wait until we are under someone else's control again.
No.
We should look at this time as a gift. Be daring. Be bold.
The Holy Spirit will guide you if you trust it.
Authority belongs to you. You have the power to be you.
More to come...
