Blind Men

Once you decide someone is evil, everything they do appears evil as well.
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith let it be done to you." And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly ordered them, "See that no one knows of this." But they went away and spread the news about him throughout that district. After they had gone away, a demoniac who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the one who had been mute spoke; and the crowds were amazed and said, "Never has anything like this been seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "By the ruler of the demons he casts out the demons." - Matt. 9:27-34
The Pharisees were convinced that Jesus was evil.
How could he not be, since the demons obeyed him?
It all comes down to the choices we make. If we choose to see Jesus as good, the power in his hands comes from God.
But if we choose to see Jesus as evil, the power must come from the devil.
The battle between good and evil can never be won, since there will always be those who see something as one or the other.
That doesn't mean good and evil don't exist. They do. And today, people who see each other one way or the other will meet on the streets to protest, and there may be violence.
When the conversation ends and the fighting begins, there is no longer a chance to change opinion.
What we are witnessing in Israel is pure horror, and we will hear it described through many lenses.
Those of us who take a stand with one side will have no way of understanding those who stand in opposition, and that is the way of the world.
If doing good can be seen as evil, doing evil can be seen as good.
It is all in the eyes of the one whose decision is already made up.
More to come...
