Consequences

Do you believe that everything we do will eventually lead to judgment?
So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For all of us must appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. - 2 Corinthians 5:6-10
I saw a funeral procession yesterday.
It was the first I have seen since the pandemic hit and I was surprised to see it. I thought people were not attending funerals for fear of congregating. I believed they were banned.
If we choose to go out into the world and interact with other people, we run the risk of catching the virus, so in a very real way, that is an example of the consequences of our actions.
It is what today's reading is about. Each of us may receive recompense for what we do while we live in the body, in our physical lives.
It is a rainy morning, so few people are out and about. I do see someone walking her dog, or more accurately having her dog pull her down the street, and a couple are keeping their distance as they walk together. But the crowds of the past are gone, and the number of walkers and runners is much less than in recent days.
People have started to come out more.
Will there be consequences in doing that? Will the virus start to spread again?
I guess the message is we have to live our lives, consequences and all. Yes, there may be hell to pay down the road, and we will make sure not to take unnecessary risks, but we cannot live in fear, can we?
At some point, we will have to go back to life, and then we will walk by faith, for this is an enemy we cannot see.
More to come...
