Delegate Up

Wouldn't it be nice if someone would take care of all the people who needed help in the world?
All kings shall bow down before him, and all the nations do him service. For he shall deliver the poor who cries out in distress, and the oppressed who has no helper. He shall have pity on the lowly and poor; he shall preserve the lives of the needy. He shall redeem their lives from oppression and violence, and dear shall their blood be in his sight. - Psalm 72:11-14
When I read today's Psalm, I am reminded of an expression I used to use at work when the staff expected management to take care of things they could easily do themselves.
They tried to delegate up the ladder.
I think there are times when we expect God to do what He may expect us to handle ourselves, like caring for one another.
The way I look at it, if we show the initiative, He will provide the means.
I am often amazed at how things just seem to fall into place when I set out to do the work of helping others, rather than waiting on God.
Prayers are answered through us. We get the call and we spring into action.
So, I believe we need to be ready to answer the call, to be already engaged in the work God needs us to do, so that He can supply us with the vast resources at His disposal to help us accomplish what we set out to do for Him.
When Jesus called Peter from the boat, Peter was able to walk on the water. But when Peter realized what he was doing was impossible, he lost faith and almost drowned.
If we make a list of all the reasons we cannot do something, we will never get started. But if we start, we just might find the doors opening for us.
More to come...
