DisRespect

Jesus sounds like he is complaining about lack of respect.
When the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say, “This generation is an evil generation; it asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so the Son of Man will be to this generation. The queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and see, something greater than Solomon is here! The people of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the proclamation of Jonah, and see, something greater than Jonah is here!” - Luke 11:29–32
Jesus is comparing himself to Jonah and Solomon, both of whom got more respect than he is getting.
Solomon was visited by the Queen of Sheba who came a great distance to speak with him and question him.
And Jonah spoke to an unruly people and got them to listen and change their ways.
But the Son of Man comes and is ignored?
He is acting very human here, and that's a good thing for us, I think. It shows us that Jesus understands our pain, our frustrations, our disappointments.
He experienced them all!
If we believe that Jesus and God are one, along with the Holy Spirit, then this awareness of our feelings is important to us and for us.
We may not think that God weeps, but Jesus wept.
We may not think God cares at times, but clearly Jesus does.
So becoming one of us brings us closer to God and God closer to us.
The more I think about this, the more amazed I am that God even bothered to create us in the first place.
From Him, we became separate, wholly distinct thinking and acting beings, outside of His control.
That's scarier than AI.
Imagine. God loves us and yet has given us the power to not love Him back.
More to come...
