Easter Eggs

In gaming, the developer sometimes hides a secret feature into the game. It is called an Easter Egg, because it is hidden and not easy to find.
At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." - Matt. 11:25-30
In today's Gospel reading, we get a glimpse of what is hidden from us by the Creator.
It may seem sacrilegious to say that life is like a video game and God is the developer, but bear with me for a moment.
What Jesus is saying is that he is the way. And not everyone knows about this way. It is hidden from many and revealed only to a few.
Those of us who know about Jesus and choose to follow Him, benefit. Our lives are better. The game of life is easier to manage.
Those who don't know may still find their way to the prize at the end, but the journey may not be as good an experience.
So, in that way, the parallels to video games make sense.
In the gaming world, once one gamer discovers the Easter Egg, others tend to find it as well. Some of the more complex and involved games, where entire worlds are created, can only be mastered if people band together and form teams.
It is then that the hidden secrets are revealed and all benefit from what the one discovered.
This is the way Christianity has grown.
People who truly believe that the Way of Christ is the key to a better life, share that knowledge with others they care about, wanting them to share in the experience.
You don't need to follow the Easter Egg in order to solve the puzzle of life, but it might just make the journey a lot better.
More to come...
