Exercise Routine

How hard is it to make it through the day?
At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:25-30
When the job is physically demanding, it changes us. Either it can take its toll on us, or it can strengthen us.
I believe a lot has to do with attitude.
If we are enthusiastic about our work, we can turn the challenges into something positive, something that helps us grow and become stronger.
But if we see the work as work, the daily grind can wear us down.
Jesus wants his disciples to love what they do. Through him, they can. They can learn to see what they are doing as an act of love, and when they do that, the burden becomes light.
We can learn how to change our lives from Jesus. He invites us to rest our souls in him, removing all doubt, all anger and frustration, all the trappings of self doubt and self focus.
If we tackle the work before us as a gift to God, the burden becomes a challenge, like a more strenuous exercise we accept in order to grow in strength and become more limber, more capable to handle what comes next.
If we fail to challenge ourselves, we become weak, but if we commit ourselves to a regimen of hard work, it becomes easy because we become strong.
Whether our work is physical or mental or both, we can tackle it with ease, knowing it is through Christ that we can do all things, and do them well.
More to come...
