Full Circle

Do you ever wonder if your efforts have an impact on those you love?
I remember my mom saying "I hear my words coming back to me."
I don't recall what I had said, but something she had instilled in me at a young age became a part of my lexicon, whether I knew it came form her or not.
For as rain and snow fall from the heavens
and return not again, but water the earth,
Bringing forth life and giving growth,
seed for sowing and bread for eating,
So is my word that goes forth from my mouth;
it will not return to me empty;
But it will accomplish that which I have purposed,
and prosper in that for which I sent it. - Song of Isaiah
Did you ever have someone tell you something that you knew you had told them? The first instinct I have when that happens is to correct the situation, you know, to set the record straight.
Hey, that's what I told you!
Does it really matter?
In today's lessons we have the Song of Isaiah, a beautiful poem that foretells the impact of The Word on the world. We know that word as The Messiah and we believe the Messiah to be Jesus.
Others might not see it that way, but that doesn't stop the word from flowing. God's love is universal. The light shines in all the darkest corners.
If we Christians truly believe that God became man to teach us something about Him and about us, I believe it is important to share what we learn from that experience with everyone.
Do they need to believe what I believe to receive the message of God's love and grace?
No.
But I can get all caught up in the concept of salvation, and that may be a stumbling block for sharing God's love. That would be a shame. For God's love to come full circle, we need to share it with each other, not just send it back to Him.
Then, as Isaiah points out, it will accomplish that for which it was purposed.
Hmmm. So, how will I face this day and what will I share?
Peace. Love. Joy.
More to come...
