Godblind

How do you feel about evil?
Do you believe there are good people and evil people?
Beloved, do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. - 3 John 11
According to John, we may choose to imitate what is good or what is evil. Those who choose to imitate evil have not seen God.
He gives us examples of people who are practicing good and evil. There is "Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority."
John does not call him evil, but he says he, John, will call attention to what Diotrephes is doing, so others will not imitate him or follow him.
Perhaps he will help him see God.
It is an interesting image John gives us of evil. In a way, it sounds like evilness can be cured. All we need to do is help people see God.
Have we seen God?
Do we look for Him, or are we also Godblind?
As followers of Jesus, we should look for God in each other, to be open to the truth in each soul, knowing that all have been created in God's image. In fact, it should be impossible not to see God in them.
This is where we run into trouble, I think. When we think of truly evil people, and I am sure each of us has someone or some group in mind, we demonize them, erasing God from the picture.
When we do that, we blind ourselves to God in them.
So, I believe there is a path to peace and that is through God. We need to see God and help others see Him and if we can do that through each other, there will be no room for hatred and evil will fail.
Simple?
No. But possible.
So, come. Let me get to know God in you.
More to come...
