Good Advice

I am thinking we could use Paul's advice today.
Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show every courtesy to everyone. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another. But when the goodness and lovingkindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. - Titus 3:1-5
We seem to be in a time of great disobedience and disregard for one another. There is little respect for authority, and everyone in positions of power, authority or wealth is viewed as demonic.
In fact, the very principles on which our nation was founded are threatened. It is as though we have lost all faith in one another to be and do good.
Some look to throw out the reason people long to come to this country, the chance to be free to build a better future for themselves and their families, to start a business and become financially secure.
There have always been those who take advantage of the system, turning it against others and gaining for themselves, but that shouldn't cause us to toss out the whole system, should it?
I think in the end, we all want the same things. We want everyone to have food on the table, a secure and comfortable place to live, a way to support themselves, and a path to a better life.
How we go about achieving those goals depends on whom we trust.
I think the only one we can trust is God. Everyone else can be corrupted.
When a corporation becomes corrupt, we have ways to remedy that, but when the government become corrupt, we lose the ability to take back control.
Let us pray that we have the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in our decisions about how best to help one another have a better life.
I, for one, have more faith in one another than in government control.
But mine is just a lone voice crying out in the wilderness.
More to come...
