Heaven Knows

Some things are easier to know and understand than others. And some are just not knowable at all.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. "But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." - Mark 13:31-32
In today's Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples there is something even he doesn't know, but only the Father knows.
I wonder if that bothered them, that he, the one they had come to believe was the son would be in the dark about anything.
Surely they wanted to know when the end would come, but I imagine that information could be a bad thing to have.
What would we do with it?
Chances are it would cause us to make decisions about the future. If we knew the end was close, we would stop planning, and if we knew it was far away, we might become reckless.
When we know for certain, we could lose hope and that would be a bad thing.
Hope is the fuel that keeps the fire of our lives burning. Without it, we dry up and die.
So, it is a good thing that God chooses to keep some things secret, for He knows we would not know what to do with it, or worse, we would stop living.
More to come...
