He's Got This

How does God answer our needs?
When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the LORD will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. - Isaiah 41:17
Isaiah tells us the poor and needy have a direct line to God. He knows what they need and provides it for them.
This reading caught my eye this morning because just yesterday I was asked for water by one of the men who comes to our soup kitchen. I wasn't aware that an anonymous donor had dropped off four gallons of water that day, so we had water for him.
This is how God works.
The day before, we had no dessert, so I ran out to buy bananas. When I returned and we started serving lunch, a donor arrived without notice and provided all sorts of fruits and cookies. I didn't need to run out to solve the problem myself. God had it.
I don't believe the message here is to stop helping God do what He sets out to do. If we did that, no one would arrive with the answer to someone's prayers or needs.
No, the message seems to be to listen to God's call to do what He needs done, and then just get out there and do it, without consultation or delay.
God provides through all of us, so we all need to be alert and aware of His call to action.
So, if you are thinking that it might be a good idea to serve or to provide something special for those in need, do it.
You won't be turned away.
Nothing goes to waste and no one goes without in God's plan.
The inequity is our doing.
More to come...
