In Plain Sight

Sometimes despite our best efforts, we come up with the right answer.
But do we truly understand what it means?
Then the scribe said to him, 'You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that "he is one, and besides him there is no other"; and "to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength," and "to love one's neighbor as oneself," -this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.'- Mark 12:32-33
In today's Gospel reading, Jesus encounters a scribe who gets it. He sees the value of living the way God intends for us, rather than offering sacrifices to ask His forgiveness for not living the way we should.
It is our mission to love one another.
If it was easy, we would never have to seek God for help. Help would be abundant in the form of all God's children.
God has given us a free will and each other. We are free to do His work when called by Him and when asked by others. But are we listening for the call? Are we reaching out to be available?
We demonstrate our love for God through our love for each other. The relationship we have with God is non-linear. It is an integral part of His creation, woven into all of us.
If we ignore others and focus on Him, we ignore Him.
It really is a simple model to follow. If we choose to seek God, we can find Him in everyone we meet. If we wait for God to make His presence known, we can miss Him entirely. He will walk by and we will ignore Him.
Now when we tap into God's presence living in us, and we put our faith in Him to guide us, the Spirit will lead us to others to be the answer to their prayers.
So, it is love in action that brings God to life for those in need. His love through us, and our actions make His presence known.
So, when we pray to God for help, we need to think of the human element involved. Who will God send?
The answer may be in plain sight. He may be sending us.
More to come...
