Judgment Time

What is our judgment?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. "Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God." - John 3:16-21
When I was young, I was taught that judgment will come when we die.
Jesus talked about the separation of the wheat from the weeds at harvest time and the separation of the sheep and the goats when he comes, so we naturally assume judgment comes later.
But John describes judgment in a different way.
He says we judge ourselves by how we live now in this life. We either choose to live in the light or we choose the darkness.
It may sound similar. How we live our lives determines how we are judged, but the way John describes it, we have greater control than we might think.
We choose the light daily. And the joy is immediate. We see clearly and we know we are loved.
Doesn't that sound like a great way to live?
So, we shouldn't worry about the final judgment but instead consider each day and the decisions we make today.
Judgment time is now. Choose wisely.
More to come...
