Light Walking

The days are getting longer. Spring is finally showing its colors and the air is getting warmer.
We have more opportunities to walk outside in the light at the end of a long work day.
How does it feel?
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. - 1 John 1:5
In today's reading, we are told to walk in the light and not in the darkness, because God is light.
If we truly believe that we are children of God, we should be very comfortable in the light, since the light is in us.
But today's reading talks about walking in light and in darkness in a more figurative sense, guiding us to walk in truth, rather than in lies.
How do we do that?
Do we tell everyone we meet what we are truly thinking about them? Do we always have to be open and honest?
I think it is as simple as being true to ourselves. We should be light bearers for others as well as light carriers for ourselves.
Be honest in our dealings. Be true to our word. Be a friend to our neighbor. Be a listener rather than a commander.
Jesus taught us to be servant leaders, to put our mission first, and our mission comes from God.
So, I think the message for today is go through this week walking lightly, not to avoid being noticed, but to be an example of confident beauty, as God intended us to be.
Be the light and shine this week, so others may be warmed by your glow.
More to come...
