Lonely Days

Imagine the comfort of knowing you are not alone.
Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you. - Genesis 28:15
Jacob had a dream of a ladder to heaven and an encounter with God. When he awoke, he knew God was with him and the place where he was lying was sacred ground.
Imagine what our days would be like if we really felt God was with us. We would know that we were not alone, and in all we did we had His help available to us.
We could go through the day today feeling that way. It is a matter of choice.
But if that is true, then what about all those lonely days we experienced in our lives before today? Were those days when God wasn't with us, or was our loneliness our own fabrication?
If I believe God makes His presence known to those who seek Him, then it is up to me to search for Him in those times when I feel most vulnerable, when I feel abandoned and alone.
That puts all the onus on me to get our of my own funk, doesn't it? So, does that mean I should blame others for their loneliness when they complain?
Another way to approach that might be to introduce them to the one who is with them always, and to do that, we might have to spend a little time being the presence they seek.
Like Jacob, we all need a picture that will help us understand, and the picture with paint with our own actions is the only one we have.
So, today, as we venture out feeling the presence of God in our lives, let us be aware of all we encounter who may not be so aware. If we welcome them in our world, they may just leave knowing they too can walk with God in their lives.
More to come...
