Miracle Child

Do you believe in miracles?
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. - Matthew 14:13-21
I used to think that miracles don't happen anymore.
But prayer and faith have a way of working together that can only be described as miraculous.
Two years ago, just before Thanksgiving, a little girl was born with numerous life-threatening problems, including a heart that needed to be repaired.
MJ, McKenna Jay, was in bad shape and word went out for prayers. Everywhere, prayer warriors got to work, and slowly, with many complications and setbacks, MJ gained in strength.
Just this past month, something else happened to her that helped erase any doubts about the active nature of God's hand through prayer.
For two years, MJ has been living with assistance breathing and being fed through a tube. Her parents have not been able to hear her speak until now.
The tracheotomy tube fell out. The immediate response was panic, but she was breathing on her own, so the doctors said, wait. Be patient. And they prayed.
At nearly two years old, MJ is not only speaking, but singing her "A-B-Cs".
If there is anything I can learn from this, perhaps it is this. Patience and persistence pay off.
Faith is all about believing in an outcome that is unpredictable and maybe even unimaginable. And the only tool we have is prayer.
For two years, people all over the world have been praying for MJ and though she still has a challenging road ahead, with the need for surgery on her heart, she is a miracle child.
Thank you for believing in prayer and for caring about her.
But let's not stop there. Many are in need of prayer today, including my wife who is battling leukemia.
Let's get started summoning the warriors, not just for her, but for all facing fear and uncertainty.
If you have someone you are praying for, comment and let us all know, so we can add them to our list.
Miracles still happen.
More to come...
