Moving On

Have you ever tried hard to convince someone of a truth only to have them totally reject your view?
At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." - Matt. 11:25-30
Prior to this, Jesus condemned three cities for failing to repent after he showed them signs of his power.
To say he wasn't happy with them would be an understatement. So, here he is, thanking God for having some fail to see what others can see.
Is he being serious?
I don't know. He sounds like we might sound when we get annoyed with someone for being obstinate. Clearly, God knows you are incapable of understanding so He is keeping you from hearing me.
God must be hiding the truth from you for a reason. Maybe you just can't handle it.
Or maybe I just need to accept that not everyone will get the message, and move on.
I like it when Jesus reacts in a very human way. It makes me feel closer to him, knowing he was one of us, subject to our emotions and concerns.
But I also like how he turns on a dime and becomes the teacher, preacher, prophet and divine presence for us.
He shows us that we can be these things as well, if we have faith.
How else could we love one another the way he loves us?
When we are knocked down, we get up, brush ourselves off and move on. And if we continue our journey with Him, our burden is much lighter.
More to come...
