Opportunity

Pray for everyone.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself a ransom for all—this was attested at the right time. - 1 Timothy 2:1-6
Timothy tells us to offer our prayers to all, even our leaders. God wants everyone to be offered the chance to be saved.
It is an amazing offer, don't you think? And we could leave it at that. God offers salvation to all, and it is up to them to take it.
But Timothy goes one step further. He says we should intercede for those who don't. We should thank God for them and humbly pray that they accept God's grace.
So, it is not just that we all have the opportunity to be saved. We also have the power to ask God to save others, and we do this through Jesus.
Do we do that? Do we take the time to think about those who may not seek salvation on their own?
That opportunity exists for all of us. Imagine if everyone prayed with earnest for our leaders, our neighbors, and even our enemies. What would life be like then?
When we think of salvation, we think of the afterlife, but wouldn't it make life so much better if we were living knowing we are saved?
That is why God chose to come among us in the form of his son, to show us that life can be beautiful, even through the suffering and uncertainty.
We just have to want it.
More to come...
