Perfect Harmony

What would it take for the world to become as loving as God is?
Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. - Colossians 3:13-14
If we forgive one another and clothe ourselves in love, the world could be in perfect harmony.
I wonder. Could it be that simple? What if we do that and everyone else doesn't?
That's always the problem, isn't it? We are willing, but can we just cannot trust everyone else to follow suit.
If I cannot trust you to be loving then I am vulnerable and that is where the harmony starts to fall apart.
It is fairly easy to be the first to forgive, but without assurances that the person will return the gesture, what do we have?
If all of us acted out of love, though, there would be no need to forgive, since none of us would do anything to harm each other.
That is not the world we live in. So why does a loving Father put up with us unruly and unloving children?
So far, He has been very forgiving, and thank God for that! But one day He may change His mind and seek to rebuild this world in the perfect harmony He envisioned when He created it.
Of course we don't believe He will do that, because we can trust His love. Too bad we cannot trust ours.
More to come...
