Releasing the Passion

What are you wildly passionate about?
If that's a difficult question to answer, you are not alone. In fact, if you do a quick search, you will find dozens of blogs, articles and books on the topic of finding your passion in life. But I don't think any of those tips are necessary to help you discover your passion. I think it is as simple as this.
What would you spend your time doing if you were given the gift of another day?
Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them. - Mark 1:30-31
For Simon Peter's mom, serving her family and their friends was her gift and her passion. From a sick bed, she rose and served them.
It was what she chose to do as soon as her strength returned.
Think of all the other things she could have done.
Perhaps when you first read this passage, you thought that she served them because she was thankful for being returned to health and wanted to show her appreciation, but chances are, this is the way she was. It was a woman's place to serve, and her family was her responsibility.
But I think there is a deeper lesson here. I think we are being given a glimpse of what life can be like, if we take it seriously and strip away all the unnecessary layers of busy-ness that keeps us from doing what we were gifted to do.
I have been giving it some thought and my passion is to spread hope to everyone I meet.
I know. It sounds lofty and you might think I am saying that boastfully, but I truly do love to see eyes light up with joy and promise. It is what I spend most of my time thinking about and doing, sharing what makes me smile and what gives me hope.
So, here's a challenge.
Take some time today to seek out your passion. Think of what brings you the most joy, what lights up your eyes and what fills your heart to overflowing, and that will be your first clue.
Then, when you think you have it, make that the source of your strength to meet whatever comes your way. And it will nourish and enrich you.
I believe we are designed for greatness. No matter what we do or don't do, we are great in God's eyes, even if we don't see it through ours.
So, what have we got to lose? We can go through life worrying and being miserable, afraid and alone, or we can release the passion inside and go wild!
Are you ready?
More to come...
