Why would God want to serve me?
"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8
The idea that God is always ready to do what we ask is a bit absurd, don't you think?
Why would the creator of all choose to be a servant of all?
When we are in trouble, we cry out to God for help. We do that and don't think of it the same way. It is one thing to seek help and quite another to want to be served.
Jesus told his disciples that they must be servants of all to be followers of him, so it could be that God is setting the ultimate example for us.
But just as we would not want people to take advantage of our good nature, wouldn't God have a problem with us leaving everything up to Him? Shouldn't we be responsible for doing something on our own, rather than asking for everything we need?
I wonder if we can have it both ways. If we are to emulate God and be ready to serve others, than what we ask for would be different than if we just want for ourselves.
I would think our asking for something to help someone else would be better than asking fr it for us.
Maybe that's the real point here. God may be saying that He serves us so we can serve each other.
It is all about love.
Because He loves us so much, we should love one another as well.
Maybe then we will know what to ask for.
More to come...
