Return

Have people stopped believing in God?
But you, beloved, must remember the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; for they said to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, indulging their own ungodly lusts." It is these worldly people, devoid of the Spirit, who are causing divisions. But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on some who are wavering; save others by snatching them out of the fire; and have mercy on still others with fear, hating even the tunic defiled by their bodies. Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to make you stand without blemish in the presence of his glory with rejoicing, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. - Jude 17-25
Sometimes it seems like we have all forgotten the promise of salvation and eternal life. Or maybe we just stopped thinking about God.
Jude warns us about false teachers, those who tell us to let down our guard and just live as we please.
There is truth in that, but also a potential flaw in that thinking. If we leave God out of our lives, we run the risk of slipping away from the truth, and we may never realize how far we have gone.
Jude tells us to stand strong and avoid the temptation to follow those who lead us astray.
Would we give up eternity for a moment?
If we are thinking properly, we probably would not, and that is how these false prophets work on us. They cause us to think differently, and not in a good way.
We willingly trade in a treasure for a fix.
But the good news is our decision need not have permanent consequences. All we need to do is recognize what we have done, choose to turn back and let go of the temptation.
God is always ready to take us back, and the celebration of the birth of Christ next week is a reminder of that.
We just need to be strong.
More to come...
