Right Time

What amazing things can you do?
The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. - John 5:36
One of the amazing things about Patrick was that even though he was the son of a deacon and grandson of a priest, he had no interest in God, until he was kidnapped into slavery.
Because he found himself in trouble, he turned to God for help and was sent on a mission.
In today's Gospel, Jesus tells us how he was sent from the Father to do the works he was doing, and I believe just as he was sent, so are we, when the time is right.
When we read the stories form The Bible, we encounter each of the called and chosen just about the time they receive their encounter with God.
Some we follow for years as they move through their ministry of faith, while others are brief encounters. But we don't often get to see what their lives were like for the years or decades before.
What kind of people were they like before God entered their lives?
I think God looks at us and sees potential beyond our wildest imagination. When we finally decide to come to Him and op[en ourselves up to Him, we will begin to see that vision as well.
But so long as we stay away and choose to see ourselves through the dull reality of this life, we will never achieve our greatest potential.
We will be slaves to this world rather than victors over it.
Patrick may not have single-handedly converted all of Ireland from paganism to Christianity as the legend would have us believe, but he did get the ball rolling.
And he was motivated to seek God when all seemed darkest in his life.
Maybe we should do the same, but not wait until things get worse. Let's turn to God now and seek His help, be open to His call.
Who knows what amazing things He has in store for us.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
More to come...
