Selective Memory Loss

We are back in business! Caritas of Port Chester is moving to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Port Chester!
Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet. - Matthew 22:9
Over the last few months, we have been on a roller coaster ride at our soup kitchen and food pantry, not knowing if we would be able to find a space to operate.
Details of the circumstances aside, since they are not as important as the road ahead, we now have new challenges to face and obstacles to overcome. But the good news is we have a home and we will be able to continue.
We will have to take a short break, though, and therein lies the connection to the parable in today's lesson. When we start up the soup kitchen again, and we invite our guests, will they come?
In the parable, all the people the king invited passed on the offer, and that was a bad thing, so he sent the servants out to invite whoever they could find.
Of those who came, only one showed disrespect to the king and was banished. The rest enjoyed a great meal and festivities. So, I am optimistic (as always) that we will be up and running with a full house soon.
This gives us a chance to think clearly and be refreshed. It is time for selective memory loss - to leave the baggage of all that came before on the side of the road.
Change, though, is difficult, so we call upon His help to be renewed and recharged. Uncertainty aside, since we can leave that to faith and trust, we move forward and seek to do an even greater service than before.
So, stay tuned. Great things are about to happen. Today we celebrate a new start and we have invited many to the feast. Unlike the king, though, I am sure they will come.
More to come...
