Step Into Glory

When the Lord called Moses to come up the mountain, it was Moses time to shine.
The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. To the elders he had said, “Wait here for us, until we come to you again; for Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute may go to them.” Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. - Exodus 24:12-18
When it was time for God to give the commandments to Moses, He told Moses to leave Aaron and Hur in charge. They will see to it that all disputes are resolved in your absence, He told Moses.
Moses was free to go and be in the presence of the Lord.
How do we make ourselves ready for our moment to shine in God's presence? Is there someone who can take care of business while we spend time with God?
We probably don't think about that while we go about our daily lives. The challenges of the day are all consuming, and we believe we have to be there to tackle them.
But Moses going up to be with God for forty days and nights gave his brother Aaron a chance to shine in his own right. He probably would not have had an opportunity to rise up if God hadn't called Moses.
So, perhaps the lesson here teaches us something about our mission in life.
Not only are we to shine with God's glory doing His work, but we are to offer others the chance to shine as well.
Each of us has a chance to step up into glory.
More to come...
