The Silenced Prophets

Do you ever feel your words fall on deaf ears?
And you, O mortal, do not be afraid of them, and do not be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns surround you and you live among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words, and do not be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear; for they are a rebellious house. - Ezekiel 2:6-7
I wonder what Ezekiel would have thought about social media.
Would he have embraced it as a tool to get the word out to a rebellious nation, seeing it as a way to speak out without having to hear the repercussions?
When the fear of being beaten or stoned to death is removed, the prophet can speak more clearly, more directly. But so can everyone else.
The outspoken prophets of our day take to the airwaves to voice their concerns about a variety of things. It is hard to tell which voices speak for God, if any do.
I would think that a modern day Ezekiel would have a hard time being heard. He could easily be drowned out or Unfriended, leaving his voice unheard and ineffective.
Perhaps that is what is happening to the Word of God today.
With all our distractions and our ability to broadcast our own personal prophesies, who knows which messages are true and which are not?
So, here we are, desperately in need of hearing from God, and not knowing which voices are His.
I believe this is why we are called to minister to each other, to make the contact in person and avoid the clatter and distractions.
If we let our actions speak before our words, we will be more successful and all will know that what we do comes from the heart and that heart is filled with God's love.
So, the silenced can be heard, but it takes work.
More to come...
