Time is Wasting

How much time have you got?
In some things, I don't fret about time. I see the need to do something and give myself time to plan it, not worrying that time will pass quickly and I will fail to get it done.
But in a few things, I feel the pressure of time, and I get anxious. Will there be enough time for this?
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:8-9
Peter reminds us that God's view of time is different from ours. And he makes a distinction between slowness and patience. While God is patient with us, not wanting us to fail to come to Him, His timing is not ours to know.
So, perhaps we had better get on the stick, so to speak. As Mom would say, "Don't dally."
But what is it we need to do?
Sure, we have to find our way to God, to turn around, repent, realign ourselves with Him, but what does that mean in our daily lives? How do I know if I have got it right now, or if I still need to make changes?
The test, I guess, is to try to gauge who is in charge. Am I blazing the path and seeking His support for my ministry, or is He the guide and I am the one following?
I, for one, cannot help taking charge whenever I see the goal is not being reached, and I often see that as the work He has given me, but I could be wrong. I could be wasting time worrying about things He has in His sights, things He doesn't want me to fret over.
That's where faith comes in.
Somehow, in the midst of all the turmoil and uncertainty, I need to remember He has a plan, and I need to accept the role He has for me in it.
The challenge is to know when to wait on Him and when to get moving. There is no time to dally.
More to come...
