Unfinished Business

Happy Easter!
So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." - Matthew 28:8-10
We enter the season of unfinished business.
Jesus has work to do before he can go home, and he wastes no time in getting to it. The women leave the tomb to go tell the disciples what the angel told them about Jesus being alive, and along the way they encounter Jesus.
Surely he was as anxious to see them as they were to see him. He couldn't wait.
Jesus has a limited amount of time to complete the work of handing over the reigns of his ministry to Peter and the others, and he wants to get started now.
Wouldn't it be nice if we woke up this morning with the same sense of urgency?
My wife has an expression she uses when something is unfinished. "I want to get it behind me," she says. Let's get it done. Now.
Why not?
Why do people show up for the Easter Vigil service a half hour late? Don't they realize they have missed one of the most moving experiences of their faith?
We schedule. We adjust. We delay. We procrastinate. We are often late.
Why?
If we have something to do, someplace to be, why not just get to it?
For this season of Easter, why not tackle things as though we have only a short amount of time left? Why not tackle life with urgency and purpose, like Jesus?
We might just find we can prioritize better and focus more.
After all. We may not have the time we thing we have. (Morbid thought.)
So, get to it!
Waiting never accomplished anything.
More to come...
