Waiting to Update

Sometimes we find ourselves in a wait state.
And after getting into a boat he crossed the sea and came to his own town. And just then some people were carrying a paralyzed man lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven." Then some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Stand up and walk'? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic 'stand up, take your bed and go to your home." And he stood up and went to his home. When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings. - Matthew 9:1-8
The paralyzed man was stalled. He could not get on with his life while waiting for a much needed change.
I have an Adobe Creative Cloud account. That entitles me to have access to a host of applications on my computer, tablet and phone. This cloud-based approach to providing software means I can do some amazing things.
But there is a catch.
First, I have to realize I have access to the tools to do these things, and second, I have to know how to use them.
Details?
Yes, but important ones. And in those details may lie the secret to a wonderful life.
I could easily make it through each day without using a single application I have available to me, and in the process, I may be missing out on something that could make my life easier, better, or just more fun.
What if God works that way?
Jesus was criticized for telling the man that his sins were forgiven, but he could have said, get up and walk.
The difference has to do with who is doing the action. Is the change in the man's life due to what Jesus did or what Jesus had the man do?
In a way, the man is like my computer. He has everything he needs, but is just waiting to update, to get the latest version, to give himself permission to use the tools at his disposal.
We are all like that in God's eyes.
We have God to call on and get close to. He can give us what we need. It is already paid for and available for download.
We just need to update our relationship with Him.
More to come...
