Weekend Retreat

Well, I am off to a Tres Dias Weekend Retreat and should not, may not, probably won't be posting until it is over on Sunday evening.
Tres Dias is a wonderful experience, taking us out of the normal worldly routine for three das (actually Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon) to share our Christian journey with other men or women. We have 20 team members and 17 guests for this weekend, and I ask your prayers for them and us as we gather together tonight to learn, study, break bread, celebrate, sing and pray together.
Our chapter is located in Connecticut, in Fairfield County, but it includes some church members in New York. To steal from our website, www.tdfc.org:
We are a church-based community, planted in our local congregations, across many denominations of Christian faith. Many who attend a weekend continue to support the community by attending closing ceremonies, serving on the board, joining committees, hosting events, but most importantly, serving where they are based, in their local communities and churches.
The goal is to help each other in our Christian walk, not just through the weekend, but beyond. I attended my forst weekend about 10 years ago, and I have become involved in many outreach and other programs at my home Church as a result, not to mention training to become a deacon.
I have also served repeatedly on team, being a part of the formation process that prepares us to be mentors, leaders and guides on the weekend.
One of the amazing things about the weekend, for me, has been experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit. I have talked about the Holy Spirit being a recognizable force in my life, and one of the ways I have felt it's strength is through community action, like the preparation, the weekend itself, and all that follows.
Amazing things happen when we open up to God, and though that may not be a popular position in this increasingly secularize world, I have found that there are many who want to find a way back to meaning. This is one way I get to be a part of that journey.
Blessings and have a great weekend.
