Not your typical Christian Blog.
When I began my spiritual journey, after a lengthy childhood of religious education and adolescent period of blissful ignorance, even though I went to a Jesuit college, I found I knew nothing about my inherited faith. I was fine with that until I met up with a weekend retreat called Tres Dias, where a bunch of grown men talked about their journey to find Jesus. After that weekend, I was encouraged to join a Bible Study group. I worked in Manhattan at the time, so I found a group that met at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays within Grand Central Terminal (it’s not a station, but a terminal). I realized how little I knew about Scripture. My competitive nature kicked in and I started reading The Bible. Being highly talented in the ignorance department, I asked a lot of questions. I figured, if Jesus spoke in parables, he wanted us to ask questions. Years later, after while studying to become a deacon in the church, I started this daily practice of reading the day’s Scripture readings and asking the questions I, and possibly many others, have. Shat the Faith is going on here? That kind of stuff. I hope you find that asking questions is part of the journey, and at times, it may be the only thing we have to hold onto. So, ask away.
